Greetings from the sunny Bay Area of California

Hi, I just joined the group to learn more interesting things about DAK uniforms, etc. I'm too old to reenact (I'm 54) but I like to collect repro "costumes" to wear to military events. My German father was a huge admirer of Rommel, so I learned about the DAK at age 7 and fell in love with all the fantastic looking uniforms of the German military in both wars.  After perusing this site, I realized I should have studied it a bit better prior to buying my DAK impression from Hikishop. I can just see some of you rolling your eyes and saying "What?...Nooooooo!" But it's just a costume that I hopefully can make look decent for display or wear. My impression is a regimental Panzer Oberstleutnant staff officer.

Now, how do I get the "newness" out of this get up?  I bought a field blouse that I'm going to adorn with continental bullion collar tabs and shoulder boards, leave the issue EM eagle on it, I've sewn loops for the EK1, Panzer assault badge and a wound badge, it came with an EK2 button hole ribbon which I may replace with a ribbon bar. I also purchased breeches to wear with leather officer boots (advise/comments on this) the shirt and officer's cap with pink soutache. Here's the kicker...I got all four garments express delivered in about ten days for $178 USD.  I seemed like a bargain.

Fire away boys, with comments and suggestions. I welcome all and any you want to toss my way!

Thanks, Ted

Hi Ted and welcome aboard.
I am only a collector of original militaria but we have many collectors members who are also reenactors and they could be of help.
Your set up sounds nice. I would only replace the leather boots with the tropical ones.
