German Canvas Water Buckets

Haven't seen any of these heavily used items much so I thought I would bring out my two examples. Hope this will be of interest to the group? smile

Re: German Canvas Water Buckets

Well I've had a bit of a look and this is the best I can find so far - a soldier from Inf.Rgt. 115 (mot)
preparing food in the summer of 1941... unfortunately not too clear and handles not visible.

Photo credit is from Afrikakorps - Self Portrait by Dal McGuirk p. 87.

I believe that these collapsible water buckets were made by firms that made other equipment such as breadbags and zeltbahns.

Also, there was a Luftwaffe version of the collapsible bucket and a small collapsible Heer water bowl posted way back in 2011,
which can accessed here:  http://afrikakorps.forumcrea.com/viewtopic.php?id=22

Re: German Canvas Water Buckets

Thanks Keith,

I've only seen one of the collapsible bowls come up on a dealer's site recently.  From memory it was gone within a day neutral

Thanks again for taking the time to post a response.

Re: German Canvas Water Buckets

Hi Rich, yes there are some US items which are quite similar in appearance.

The German ones I've seen are usually ink stamped on the base but these markings are likely to
quickly fade with use.
