Tropical Heer Straight Leg Trousers – Max Wenzel depot B41

Hi I haven’t shown these trousers before.  I know that unworn items aren’t everybody’s cup of tea, but here they are anyway - a pair of tropical Heer
straight leg trousers, marked to the interior waistband with the distinctive circular stamp of manufacturer Max Wenzel of Breslau in Silesia.  The
size and depot markings on the trousers are stamped in purple ink.

I’ve had real difficulty finding out anything about this manufacturer and have only been able to find one other example of his clothing, which is a
RAD jacket posted on the WAF.  This has the same circular manufacturer’s stamp.

In hand my trousers appear to have been very well made and are constructed of the quality heavier weight fabric associated with earlier
items of tropical clothing.  I was a bit wary of the very shiny metal buttons, but after recently buying a pair of used 1941 dated breaches I found
that these also had the same type of bright silver buttons.

Hand written initials on the inside of one of the front pockets - maybe by the tailor that made these trousers?

Similar initials on the back pocket lining...

I’ve just been reading that Breslau withheld a protracted siege by Russian forces in 1945, finally surrendering only 2 days before Germany
capitulated on 8 May 1945.   It’s estimated that during the siege between 80-90% of the city was destroyed.  I’m assuming this large scale destruction
has contributed to why I can’t find anything on Wenzel or his clothing business, except one vague reference to the firm of Max Wenzel at an address
at Ring 60, Breslau.

If you try to locate Breslau on a contemporary map you’ll find that is now named Wroclaw and it is part of Poland.

Re: Tropical Heer Straight Leg Trousers – Max Wenzel depot B41

Hi guys, thanks very much for the comments smile

I was just comparing the pair of trousers in this post with a 1943 dated pair of tropical trousers that I bought about four years ago and the difference in the quality of materials
is really quite distinct...
