Tropical Heer Belt and Buckle GB 40

Hi, a recent addition to my belt collection.  Tropical Heer belt and buckle marked GB 40 from manufacturer Gustav Bremer of Markneukirchen in Saxony.

I'm not sure if the web belt is sun faded or chemically bleached...

Regards Markus

Beautiful belts and buckles. GB40 is my favorite buckle to find.

Re: Tropical Heer Belt and Buckle GB 40

Thanks Chris, yes I was very pleased to pick this one up.  The only other GB40 example I have unfortunately has some surface rust almost obscuring the manufacturer markings under the buckle roller.

The earlier olive green belts are definitely a favourite collectible for me.

Thanks for your comments.

Very Nice belt set. The webbing has a good washed out look to it. The first one I got was (is) very similar although the leather on yours is in better condition. We must not forget these were worn into Italy (yes, even early buckled sets) and worn in wet weather conditions. The dyes were both sun and water sensitive.
It's a beauty!

Re: Tropical Heer Belt and Buckle GB 40

Thanks Mark, I was thinking after seeing this example that you can see a rationale for the Wehrmacht switching from the olive green dyed web equipment - it was likely to end up being tan anyway if exposed continuously to the elements.

Thanks for your comments,
Mark
