Re: DAK Related Postcards and Necrologies

I picked up some more cards that will hopefully be of interest to you all! First is an odd card with an inserted soldier in full tropical uniform. I have run into several photos with this same background wall and wonder if anyone knows where or what. It almost acts like a memorial wall with small placards on it or could just be a loose brick wall?   Barron smile

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll193/barronreb/Military%20Photographs/DSC00286_zpsbiswz1yh.jpg,

I may have shown this picture before, but it shows a Luftwaffe soldier in front of the same wall. Hope you will enjoy!

Re: DAK Related Postcards and Necrologies

Here is a postcard with an appropriate subject of Luftwaffe forward air controllers with He 111s overhead and using field radios. I don't understand the collar lietzen on what seem to be Luftwaffe soldiers? roll Barron

Re: DAK Related Postcards and Necrologies

Just picked up this interesting color postcard recently of a Junkers Ju-88 on an airfield in Sicily. Funny horse and carriage is quite unusual also! hmm  Enjoy! big_smile   Barron

Re: DAK Related Postcards and Necrologies

Finally obtained another necrology of a soldier dressed in tropical uniform killed in the late war fighting in Jugoslavia. He had served in a Gebirgsjager unit there and I would suspect that he served in Afrika or Greece previously when photo was taken? cool Barron

Re: DAK Related Postcards and Necrologies

Here is one of the usual photographic necrologies with continental uniform probably taken much earlier. Since this soldier was killed at Gabes, Tunisia. I figured he would be buried at the same location as some of the earlier ones I posted! Sure was! The picture is the same on the "Find a grave" website as on this card but poorer resolution.   cool   Barron

Re: DAK Related Postcards and Necrologies

Here is another soldier in tropical uniform killed in southern Europe that served in a mountain unit. Sure would be nice to get some more information on the mountain unit(s) that served in Afrika! hmm

Re: DAK Related Postcards and Necrologies

Here is a small card I just acquired of an Afrikakorps soldier wounded and evacuated to Europe but died in hospital in Metz. He is still shown in his tropical uniform.

Re: DAK Related Postcards and Necrologies

I just picked up some more German Afrikakorps related necrology cards. Hope you all will be interested! Definitely some odd ones in the group, such as this first one of a Luftwaffe Grenadier killed in Tunisia just before the capitulation. May be one of the Hermann Goering unit members that made it to Afrika?   Barron  cool

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll193/barronreb/Military%20Photographs/DSC01915_zpsxrxrqsws.jpg,http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll193/barronreb/Military%20Photographs/DSC01916_zpswjw4qkvr.jpg,

Next is an Oberleutnant from a Panzergrenadier unit shown in his tropical uniform with EK1 prominantly displayed.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll193/barronreb/Military%20Photographs/DSC01917_zpsohf3nb64.jpg,http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll193/barronreb/Military%20Photographs/DSC01918_zpsyzb8pssn.jpg,

Here is another casualty from the fighting in Tunisia. Since he had earned an medal for service in Russia and a Panzer Assault badge, I suspect he served in 10th Panzer.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll193/barronreb/Military%20Photographs/DSC01921_zpsdzeann09.jpg,http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll193/barronreb/Military%20Photographs/DSC01922_zpsmnoplf9v.jpg,

Last but not least a pair of brothers memorialized on a double card with one killed early in the campaign and his brother killed in Russia I believe very late in the war.

Re: DAK Related Postcards and Necrologies

I am definitely addicted to these! Hope you all appreciate these!  cool  Barron

This first one was a casualty of the final El Alamein action and is portrayed in his tropical uniform.

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll193/barronreb/German%20Necrology%20Cards/DSC01950_zpsvqduwjqt.jpg,http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll193/barronreb/German%20Necrology%20Cards/DSC01951_zpsfb0csuid.jpg,

This second one is of a casualty from Italian campaign in tropical uniform, possibly an Afrika veteran?

Re: DAK Related Postcards and Necrologies

Thanks Chris for your observations! Paper items are about the only DAK items I have been able to acquire lately! smile Just picked up this interesting unused card recently of I believe a 20mm gun crew with several interesting items such as sunglasses and overseas cap. Also shown is large binocular case in the background. Enjoy!  Barron   cool
