Re: My DAK CAP

Hi nice looking Hans Brandt cap I would say £300 - £350 price range to sell in the UK. That's $375 - $440 or 350 -410 euro.

Re: My DAK CAP

Agree nice unissued tropical side cap not DAK at all. From the beehive cache and agree nice that this one slipped through without having someone add a soutache post war.  price no more than $400us.

Re: My DAK CAP

These were never issued so it hasn't seen action in Africa or anywhere else. It came from the beehive find.

Re: My DAK CAP

This is the Beehive story. I didn't know this story... I don't speak English very well but i almost understood. It's crazy ! But i'm a little bit disappointed to know my cap never see battlefield.
Question: with a soutach, it would be good for a action in Africa ?

Re: My DAK CAP

Thanks for linking the beehive cache thread. The only caps we call DAK are early '1940-'42 used worn tropical caps. All DAK is tropical, but not all tropical is DAK. Only used faded items are referred to as DAK items. Unissued (depot queen) caps or tunics are tropical but not DAK. Soutache doesn't really matter as caps with & without soutache were worn in Afrika. An actual faded used cap worn in Afrika will likely cost well over $1000us and maybe over $10,000us if its a soutached M40 visored tropical cap.

You still have a nice cap, I picked one up just like it in '87 while in La La Land (Los Angeles).

Hey Magpie, was that at the "Great Western Gun Show" in Pomona? That is where and about the same time when I picked up my example that I posted a while back!

No but probably from the same distribution network in LA. Picked mine from a Militaria shop pretty close to Knots Berry Farm, can't remember the name now but the guy used to be be around for along time dealing militaria in the Southland.
