Re: Souvenir hunter pictures

This image is a solid proof that M42 helmets were used in Africa.

Some collectors consider M42 tan camo helmets as Südfront and not DAK but this myth (as many others) is also busted.

Excellent photos Eddie and thanks for posting these on the forum.  I'm particularly looking at the piles of captured helmets which include a number of 'raw edge' models.

Do you think this is the same AFV behind the large flag in your latest group of photo's?

Regards Markus

Yes I think it would be the same one Markus.

Re: Souvenir hunter pictures

Another photo of that pile of helmet Tunis, 50 shades of DAK ! such a colour variation and surprisingly some minty looking liners there despite the heat and conditions.

Re: Souvenir hunter pictures

There's been clear images of m42 helmets in Tunisia with Rgt HG amongst others, but I'd gladly pick up that m38 just sitting at the bottom of the last photo...cool
Mmmm - just waiting for my time machine to arrive in the post...

Re: Souvenir hunter pictures

British with souvenirs

In this one I think the British soldier has a German pistol holstered on his rifle sling and captured documents / maps in satchel on his left

Bren Gun carrier crew with German helmet hung on the vehicle.

Re: Souvenir hunter pictures

Interesting to see on the bottom picture the forward grip for a Thompson SMG sticking out too with no BREN in the mount that you would expect to be there!

Wondered if anyone has seen a photo of a G33/40 in a mountain troopers hand in Africa? Good catch on noticing that as I have always been looking for G33/40s and G43s in Afrikakorps hands!  smile  Barron
