LW tropical boots, opinions

Hi mates

here are my LW tropical boots, they are sun faded and used.
Their faded color is more olive than tan, this is unusual but after all I have a pair of Heer tropical 3rd pattern high cut boots in tan canvas!

Ciao

Re: LW tropical boots, opinions

Ciao Mark
it is very difficult to find some marks because they have been very used. However in the right boot on the upper inner leather strip I can see the traces of four letters with great difficulty.. the first is a "B", the third is a "t" and fourth is "a".
The last two are in italics. Most likely "Bata" under they we can see a number like 9 and traces of other....

This pattern of boots was manufactured form 1942, so they were issued in Tunisia and Italy. Before 1942 flak units were issued with Army boots, both high and ankle styles.
Because one of the criticism levelled against the Army high boots was the inconvenience of their long lace arrangement, the Lufwaffe design was a definite improvement being so much easier and faster to put on.

Here are more pics.

Re: LW tropical boots, opinions

Thanks Zip! smile
I'd like to add a set to my Sandpit at some point, but I need to focus on Heer equipment first - Luftwaffe second!
