He is a lieutenant of 9 regiment, 50 ID "Regina"

The division served as a permanent garrison throughout the Italian Dodecanese in WWII. In addition to Rhodes, the main detachments were stationed in Leros, Kos, Karpathos, Case, Kalymnos, Kastelorizo, Stampalia, Patmos and Gaidaro; the artillery regiment was garrisoned in Rhodes and defende the positions on Mount Fileremo and elsewhere. The duties of the unit was protecting airports Gadurrŕ and Maritsa.
Units of the division took part in the final stages of the Battle of Crete, forming the backbone of the Tactical Group "Caffaro".
Specifically it provided two infantry battalions (the 9th and 10th), the 50th Company antitank guns and 3rd tank company of the CCCXII Battalion.

In africa it was in fashion for Italian officers to wear continental m. 35 trousers, they had lateral unit piping.

Re: Italian Officer in tropical uniform

the helmet of this mannequin belongs to a non-commissioned officer of the 9th regiment.
He was stationed in the Dodecanese, but for disciplinary reasons was moved to Africa and aggregated to Ariete Armoured division as a tank crewman.
He took part of the late africa campaign where He was taken prisoner.
