Great display - especially the tunic and breeches.

The M24 is original?

Re: DAK gear in a pile

Yes very nice display Dawn Patrol wink
Beautiful tunic & olive tropenhelm, would love to see this displayed on a mannequin one day
with some nice tropical high boots tongue

Does anybody know why it was common practice for the soldiers to either cut off or fold under the tan edging
on the AFRIKAKORPS cuff titles????

Fantastic!
Cheers
Stu

Re: DAK gear in a pile

I'm still looking at this photo for some reason hmm
I love it, it's bloody awesome. Just the way it's displayed, like a shot you would see in a book.

Well done Dawn Patrol, nice layout.

Re: DAK gear in a pile

Thanks guys for the nice words. The stick grenade is dated 1940 and is a real one dewated of course. I will get this tunic and pants on a mannequin soon and photograph it with closeups for the forum. I have not found a pair of high boots for it. (on the lookout..even worn faded  repros ok)  I put most of this group together in the early 80s. Things were a lot more affordable and available then. The tunic is dated 1941 and is a Berlin maker. The pants also 1941 stamped. Trench art palm ashtray is made with a British shell. Nicely worked palm and small second palm engraved on the front of the bottom shell..hard to see here. I believe it is a German made souvenir but who knows.
