Re: tropical shirt lw.

Hi bicho31, unfortunately I don't consider myself an expert on tropical Luftwaffe items but here are my thoughts after
looking at a number of references.

Firstly the fabric from which the shirt is made looks ok, appears from the photos to be an open weave poplin
and not the ribbed twill (the ribbed twill IMO is a quick giveaway for a repro shirt).

Secondly, not all Luftwaffe shirts had the triangular eagle attached during manufacture, so this feature also appears ok.

However, I haven't been able to find genuine examples which have the closure button on the lower part of the sleeve.
There is usually only one button on the cuff of Luftwaffe tropical shirts - occasionally two.  The ones which I have seen with
the additional button further up the sleeve today have been repros.

Some references I've seen also state concerns with tropical shirts that have the LBA acceptance stamp on the inside of the
collar (instead of the manufacturer name or RB number).

I also have some concerns about the tropical Heer shirt listed with the same dealer, just doesn't have the features I'd expect to see.
I note that both shirts have been listed for sale for some time and one would expect that they would have gone by now if buyers
scouring the internet didn't have some doubts, so this makes me a little more cautious.

To be sure on the shirt that you've posted, you would need to get an opinion from someone who specialises in tropical Luftwaffe
items.  Unfortunately there are many repros out there and IMO EUR 350.00 is a lot of cash compared with EUR 40.00 for a repro...

If there's anyone out there who specialises in Luftwaffe tropical items, now is your chance to comment... as I've said these are
just my observations and I'm not an expert on Luftwaffe stuff big_smile

Regards Markus

Re: tropical shirt lw.

No problem, I was looking at this shirt myself a while ago but had the concerns I've outlined in my post.

I've tried to focus on Heer items and the Luftwaffe stuff is an area of specialty in its own right.
