British Wire Cutters

I just recently acquired a couple of pairs of wire cutters and decided to post this pair as they are nicely dated 1941 and came with a rough but intact hanger/frog. Hope you will enjoy!smile

Re: British Wire Cutters

Nice set of wire cutters Barron - thanks for posting smile

I have a German tropical rucksack which has captured British web components, a part of which is clearly marked MECo -
the same manufacturer of the web carrier for your cutters.

Regards Markus.

Re: British Wire Cutters

Hi Barron, this was the German tropical backpack I was referring to.

The British web components are reinforcing pieces stitched inside the backpack.  The remainder
of the web straps appear to be of German manufacture.

The main internal reinforcement is British web marked MECo 1939.  I understand that the
Germans often used captured British web items for similar items.

The backpack is marked on the external rear with the three digit manufacturer code of kkd (Wilhelm Stern Lederwarenfabrik of Posen) and dated 1942.

Posen is now part of Poland.

Regards Markus
