M40 DAK opinion

Thoughts on this one? Single decal remnants on left hand side.
Thanks in advance!
John.

Re: M40 DAK opinion

Hi John, going by the photos posted it looks to be a nice original tropical helmet
As to whether its from the Afrika campaign or Italy would be impossible to say.
The helmet it self looks fantastic and will be a great addition to your collection
Many thanks for showing
Cheers
Msteve

Re: M40 DAK opinion

Hi John, I agree with Msteve's comments - looks to be an original M40 helmet with the remnants of a single Heer decal under the tropical paint.

From the photos the liner looks original and the only small detail is what appears to be a replacement drawstring - but who knows when this could have happened.

I've seen photos of other helmets with very similar pitting to the tropical paintwork and shell, where it has been described that
the helmet had been left exposed to the elements in the open for some time before being recovered.

Do you know anything about the helmet's history and it would be interesting to know if the manufacturer's code, size and production batch number are still visible?

Thanks for posting the photo's smile

Regards Markus.

Re: M40 DAK opinion

Looks ok to me too. The paint and aging looks to be consistent. It could have also been exposed near fire or very high temperatures.
