Re: How about them Pith Helmets!

Only seen French blue examples for the Luftwaffe, never seen a blue one for the KM, so gotta be very rare.

Re: How about them Pith Helmets!

Tropenhelm Wehrmacht but looks like a Luftwaffe issued helmet to me green inside light brown leather rim also seems to be a small hole right of eagle shield where original Luftwaffe eagle was ? Nice used looking example though.

Re: How about them Pith Helmets!

Indeed, a rebadged Luftwaffe tropenhelm.  There are a lot of these about with either Heer shields or worse fake Heer shields.

Are you after a Luftwaffe tropenhelm or just window shopping, as I am selling one from my collection?

Re: How about them Pith Helmets!

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for quick reply I only collect Heer items I like the look of that helmet I posted as it's had some use, but I guess it would be better rebadged as a Luftwaffe helmet so I think I'll leave it. I'd really like a 1st pattern Green army Tropenhelm like you have posted earlier in this link.

Cheers
Eddie

Re: How about them Pith Helmets!

Hi Folks

A tricky question to the pith helmet experts here.

Does anybody ever observed contemporary mounted alu-shields on the 1. pattern (kork) pith helmet, or
is this impossible and done past 1945?

Any information is helful to me!

Your sincerely

Ernst

Re: How about them Pith Helmets!

The alloy ones are quite rare and it is often hard to tell from pictures which type are on a helmet.  I have a loose pair and though uncommon, they must have been used.

You have to use the image uploader and then copy and paste it to the thread.  There is a thread on how to do it in the first section.

Re: How about them Pith Helmets!

Never seen one with buckle strap before really like it smile

Army 1st model tropical pith helmet. This very rare helmet features dark green canvas material with typical six panel construction. The eagle and national escutcheon shields are original to the helmet as is the buckled chinstrap. The exterior is in overall excellent condition showing minimal storage age. The interior display a single size stamp 57 on the red dome material. There are no markings on the underside of the leather sweatband.

French made to the German design, manufactured during the occupation, not one you see very often.

The top pic is not one I have seen before, cool pic.  The Kubel is Rommel from an edition of signal and the bottom one is a well known picture and is from Italy if I remember correctly.
